About Us

The department of English began its journey since the inception of this college i.e 1972, with an objective of bringing out competent, confident and candid English speakers. The department offers English as a compulsory subject for Arts,Commerce and Science stream and also English as optional subject for the students of Humanities. Currently, the department functions with the help of two permanent faculty. The department with the help of it's available human resource in the form of seasoned and qualified faculty strives to develop the students by instilling moral, ethical, professional and human values. The department aims at motivating it's students to persue higher education, research that will contribute in national development. We as a department, not only restrict ourselves to the curricular aspects but at the same time make the students realise their own potential through organising co-curricular and extra-curricular activities resulting in the all round development of the students. 

Department Vision:

The vision of the department is to train the students in a manner enabling them to prove themselves in different job-markets, corporate houses, civil services, entrepreneurial sectors. 

Department Mission:

The mission of the department is to develop the four basic language skills of the students and enable them to integrate the skills in need based situations. 2) The department tries to realise it's vision through continuously monitoring the performance of the students by making them undergo practical and theoretical assignments. The department also encourages it's students to acquire technological wisdom and blend it with the traditional wisdom, so as to survive and fit in the modern day educational set-up. 

Department Objectives:

1. To enable the students to comprehend, speak, read and write English clearly. 

2. To motivate the students to read classical and modern English literature. 

3. To encourage the students to critically appreciate language and literature. 

4. To make the students understand the importance of English language in global scenario. 

5. TTo provide platform to the students to voice their thoughts and opinions on social, cultural and academic issues.
